AddStride places data
AddStride's "Nearby" search (fuel, restaurants, cafés, viewpoints, attractions, camping, lodging, supermarkets, motorcycle shops and repair, toilets and drinking water) uses a database of places that we build every week from OpenStreetMap.
© OpenStreetMap contributors. The data is available under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0. OpenStreetMap is built by a community of mappers; see openstreetmap.org/copyright.
What it contains
- Places tagged in OpenStreetMap with one of these tags:
amenity=fuel,amenity=restaurant,amenity=cafe,amenity=bakery,tourism=viewpoint,tourism=attraction,tourism=museum,historic=castle,historic=ruins,tourism=camp_site,tourism=hotel,tourism=guest_house,tourism=hostel,shop=supermarket,shop=convenience,shop=motorcycle,shop=motorcycle_repair,amenity=toilets,amenity=drinking_water. - For each place: its OpenStreetMap id, name (or brand or operator), names in other languages where OpenStreetMap has them, category, the matching tag, position (areas at the centre of their bounding box), address, street and opening hours as tagged.
- Repeats (the same category and name within about 100 m) are left out.
- The whole world, rebuilt weekly from the OpenStreetMap planet file; each build names the date of the OpenStreetMap data it was made from.
Licence
This database is a derivative of OpenStreetMap and is offered under the same licence, the ODbL 1.0. You may copy, share and adapt it, provided you credit "© OpenStreetMap contributors", share adapted databases under the ODbL, and keep it open. Maps and search results that show the places are produced works; they carry the OpenStreetMap attribution.
Getting the data
The places are published as small files (JSON, one per map tile) that the AddStride apps read. If you would like the whole database of a build, write to support@addstride.com and we will send you a download link (a few hundred MB). You can also build it yourself: the build is a script over the OpenStreetMap planet file with the tags listed above.
Corrections
Places come from OpenStreetMap as they are. To correct a place, edit it on openstreetmap.org; the change reaches AddStride with the next weekly build.
